This artisanal trio of ethically sourced, sustainably cultivated salts comes from natural spring ponds in the protected Sacred Valley of the Incas. High up in the Peruvian Andes mountains, salt harvesting traditions and land have been passed down from generation to generation. SIMPLi’s salt comes from the family of Yolanda Acurio Mendoza, who runs the Comunidad Salinera de Maras, a co-op committed to fighting the exploitative nature of the unregulated salt market in Peru. Our ethical sourcing ensures transparency in the production process and origins of our salt and ensures Yolanda will be paid fairly for her products.
Yolanda uses ancestral knowledge to naturally harvest the salt, using pools that come from the mountains in the Sacred Valley to evaporate the spring water and create a salt that retains its high mineral content; this salt’s uniquely high mineral content ensures it is rich in calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and potassium. Yolanda has innovated to produce the highest quality salt and create blends from the natural plants found in the surrounding landscape.
Peruvian Pink Finishing Salt
This versatile salt is blush pink in color, offers a mildly tangy taste, and has a medium grind size of 0.9 mm that is between fine kosher salt and crunchy finishing salt.
