LEARNING BACKWARD,
Growing Forward

SIMPLi started in 2020 by native Peruvian Sarela Herrada and her husband Matt Cohen, aligned by their love of food and travel. Sarela’s deep roots in South American foodways and culture and a joint mission to simplify food supply chains created the foundation of SIMPLi. Now, we’re a global food company tapping into regenerative organic agriculture to deliver the best pantry staples in the world.

Smallholder Farmers WITH THE HIGHEST STANDARDS

Think of the standards you expect when visiting your local farmers market—things like freshness, transparency, and environmental stewardship. We’re using these core ideas as our lens for elevating the best small and Indigenous farms all over the world.

AYACUCHO, PERU

SKY-HIGH VISTAS, EXCEPTIONAL SOIL

Ayacucho, located at approximately 8,800 feet above sea level, offers ideal conditions for growing a diverse array of grains, legumes and seeds. The region’s cool climate optimizes the development of unique flavors and nutritional profiles in the crops. With its mineral-rich soil, this region is known for exceptional taste and nutritional value. Our farming partners here use traditional techniques passed down over generations and adapted to the region’s distinct environment.

APURIMAC, PERU

WOMEN-LED SOIL STEWARDS

In Apurímac, Peru, the agricultural landscape is influenced by its high-altitude Andean climate, with fertile soil, cool temps, and a distinct dry season that’s great for grains, legumes, and seeds. Most of the farming work in our three certified communities here is done by women who use sustainable agricultural methods honed over centuries of traditional learning to maintain soil health and optimize the nutritional value of each ingredient.

PUNO, PERU

THE ROC STARS OF SOUTHERN PERU

This lake-hugging region was the original spot where we sourced quinoa when we launched SIMPLi—and the first of our farming partners to become Regenerative Organic Certified®. Puno’s high altitude (12,500 feet above sea level) and volcanic soil offer a distinct advantage, rich in minerals and organic matter that make it great for grains and beans. Farmers here use generations of traditional knowledge, cultivating these crops harmoniously with the region's environment.

MARAS, SACRED VALLEY, PERU

SUPPORTING COMMUNITIES, CELEBRATING SALT

The Comunidad Salinera de Maras is a woman-owned co-op dedicated to combating the exploitative practices of Peru’s long-unregulated salt market. Led by the family of Yolanda Acurio Mendoza, the Comunidad harvests from centuries-old pools in ancient salt mines that were carved into the Andes mountains by Indigenous people over 1,500 years ago. We’re proud to partner with this dedicated collective operating in a setting you have to see to believe.

Baesa, Pure Olive Oil

BAEZA, SPAIN

GROVES THAT HARBOR HERITAGE

Here, olive oil is a way of life. With production methods perfected over centuries, this region is known for its unique climate, fertile soils, and exceptional quality. The distinct environment is ideal for cultivating Picual olives, a variety prized for its high oil content and robust flavor. We’re proud to work directly with these skilled farmers, ensuring that every bottle of our olive oil reflects the excellence of this storied region.

POLTAVA, UKRAINE

GLOBAL LEADERS FOR A REASON

Ukraine is the world’s top exporter of sunflower oil, with thousands of farming communities hand-picking sunflower seeds for oil extraction. In fact, Ukraine harvests approximately 4 million tons of the world’s largest sunflower each year. At SIMPLi, we work directly with these farmers to source the finest sunflower oil, ensuring quality, integrity, and traceability from field to table.

Asuncion, Kidney Beans Chia

ASUNCIÓN, PARAGUAY

THE HEART OF SOUTH AMERICA

We source our chia seeds from smallholder farmers in Paraguay, where the unique climate and fertile soils provide optimal conditions for growing exceptional chia. These small-scale, family-owned farms practice sustainable agriculture, characterized by regenerative methods and no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. This commitment to environmental stewardship gives us the utmost confidence in our chia, a versatile addition to any healthy diet.

Pando, Acai

PANDO, BOLIVIA

THE BEST THE RAINFOREST HAS TO OFFER

Bolivian açaí is renowned due to its cultivation in the Amazon rainforest, where it benefits from a rich, biodiverse environment while also supporting ecosystem conservation. How does açaí become the colorful treat you love? First, farmers harvest from Pando. Then, açaí berries are extracted and immediately sent frozen to Santa Cruz, a province about 14 hours away. There, they’re freeze-dried into powder, ensuring nutritional value and distinctive taste (no additives needed).

Salta, Kidney Beans Chickpeas

SALTA, ARGENTINA

A HAVEN FOR BEANS

Nestled in northwest Argentina, Salta benefits from a diverse climate and nutrient-rich soil, which are highly favorable for cultivating legumes. The combo of warm days, cooler nights, and ample sunlight creates the perfect environment for developing beans with superior taste and texture. Plus, our generational farming partners are deeply committed to sustainable methods and soil conservation.

Kastoria, Gigante Beans
Sparta, Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Kalamata, Kalamata Olives

KASTORIA, GREECE

A LABOR OF LOVE—AND HERITAGE

Nestled in a valley surrounded by limestone mountains on the western shore of Lake Orestiada, Kastoria offers abundant water sources and humidity that contribute to the beans' exceptional size and flavor. For centuries, white runner beans have been a staple, earning Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status for their quality and traditional significance. By working with small shareholder farmers, SIMPLi ensures only the finest gigante beans reach your pantry.

SPARTA, GREECE

THE OLIVE OIL HEARTLAND

Olive oil’s history dates back over 6,000 years to Ancient Greece. We partner with farmers in the countryside of Sparta, Greece, where Koroneiki olives—the most prized variety for oil—are handpicked and harvested from groves across the region. In an industry plagued by fraudulent products passed off as EVOO, we’re unwavering in our commitment to working directly with farmers to ensure our oil’s integrity, authenticity, and quality.

KALAMATA, PELOPONNESE, GREECE

TREASURED GROVES IN SOUTHERN GREECE

This region is renowned for its stunning beaches, ancient castles—and exceptional olives. In fact, the quality of Kalamata olives is safeguarded by their Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status, which says they must come from this specific area. Unique to these trees are their larger leaves, which soak up more sunshine for a particularly distinctive flavor. The communities we partner with here have been cultivating olives for centuries—so they know their stuff.
