Ingredients

SALTED CARAMEL
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 1/2 tsp SIMPLi Pink Salt

  • 4 honeycrisp apples, sliced

  • ½ cup organic cane sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg

  • A pinch of ground allspice

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

SALTED CARAMEL
  1. Heat the cane sugar and water in a saucepan until it turns a dark-amber color. Once it reaches the desired color, remove the pan from the heat. While continuously whisking, slowly pour in the cream. Be cautious as it will bubble up vigorously. Keep whisking until smooth, even if it clumps.

  2. Add the butter and SIMPLi Pink Salt, whisk until smooth, then return the pan to medium-low heat. Simmer for about 4 to 5 minutes until slightly thickened, reducing to approximately 1 1/4 cups.

  3. Transfer the caramel to a heatproof bowl or container. Let it cool for at least 1 hour before use; it will thicken further as it cools.

FILLING
  1. Combine apples, cane sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, vanilla, and the salted caramel sauce. Stir until fully coated.

TOPPING
  1. Place the flour, oats, crushed Lupini beans, brown sugar, and cinnamon into a bowl, and stir until they are mixed. Pour in the melted butter and continue mixing until it forms a crumbly texture.

ASSEMBLE
  1. Place the coated apples in the bottom of your greased standard square baking dish or skillet and then add the topping. Bake for approximately 35-40 minutes or until the apple filling bubbles and the topping turns golden brown.

  2. Once baked, let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream, a drizzle of homemade salted caramel, and a sprinkle of SIMPLi Pink Salt for a special touch. Enjoy!
