THE VISIONARY FOUNDERS: SARELA HERRADA AND MICHELE TSUCALAS

The journey to developing this delectable collaboration began with two inspiring women: Sarela Herrada, co-founder of SIMPLi, and Michele Tsucalas, founder of Michele’s Granola.

Michele turned her passion for baking into Michele’s Granola in 2006. Starting from her home kitchen, Michele’s Granola has grown into a beloved brand known for its organic, handcrafted, and delicious granola. Michele’s commitment to quality and flavor has remained unwavering, ensuring each batch is made with simple, wholesome ingredients.

Sarela has been stocking her family’s pantry with Michele’s Granola for the last 10 years, and it’s been a staple in SIMPLi’s office kitchen from the start. When the idea for collaborating to develop a seasonal granola flavor first came about, she couldn’t think of a better partner than Michele.

A COLLABORATION ROOTED IN FLAVOR AND VALUES

The collaboration between SIMPLi and Michele’s Granola reflects both brands’ shared dedication to sustainability, quality, and flavor.

Every handmade batch of our Limited Edition Strawberry & Red Quinoa Granola features crispy, golden brown clusters of organic, gluten-free oats – a hallmark of Michele’s Granola, enhanced with the rich and nutty flavor of SIMPLi’s Regenerative Organic Certified® Red Quinoa. The addition of organic freeze-dried strawberries, sunflower seeds, pure vanilla, and coconut rounds out the recipe, creating a sweet symphony of flavors in each bite.

As with all Michele’s and SIMPLi products, this granola is crafted with simple, quality ingredients and is free from wheat, gluten, soy, dairy, eggs, peanuts, sesame, and GMOs.

Sarela shares, “Sourced directly from the Andes Mountains in Peru, our red quinoa boasts a richer, slightly sweeter, and nuttier flavor than other quinoa varieties that pairs perfectly with the oats and strawberries in this tasty granola. To create even more impact through this partnership beyond developing a delicious product and delighting customers, Michele’s Granola will donate 1% of sales of this Limited Edition to SOME (So Others May Eat), a nonprofit dedicated to providing affordable housing, healthcare, nutritious meals, and more to residents of DC since 1970. Sarela, along with her husband and co-founder Matt, have enjoyed giving back to the local community in DC, where they met, through SOME.
