PLNT Burger, the rapidly-growing chain of fast casual restaurants started by Celebrity Chef Spike Mendelsohn, CEO Ben Kaplan and social entrepreneur Seth Goldman, have partnered with SIMPLi, a Regenerative Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and Business-to-Business (B2B) food company. PLNT Burger uses SIMPLi’s High Oleic Sunflower Oil, sourced direct from farmers in Ukraine, to make its mouth-watering Spicy and Crispy Chik’n Sandwiches, Lil’ Dippers, Chilli Cheese Fries, Crispy Herb Fries and Sweet Potato Crinkles.
Founded by Sarela Herrada and Matt Cohen, SIMPLi’s vertically integrated supply chain allows for direct farmer relationships in countries like Ukraine to simplify the process, by eliminating the middlemen and shifting value back to farmers. This system ensures the company’s ability to drive meaningful environmental impacts through regenerative and organic farming practices.
“The world has recently felt the impacts of a broken supply chain, with too many brokers, importers and distributors between the farms where our products are grown and our consumers,” said PLNT Burger’s CEO Ben Kaplan. “By working with SIMPLi, we know exactly where our product is coming from, the quality and standards that our growers hold themselves to, and the sustainable farming practices they use that align with our mission to create a healthier food system for our planet”.
As part of the partnership, PLNT Burger and SIMPLi will be fundraising for the entire month of June, with $1 from every order of PLNT Burger's Chili Cheese Fries will being donated to World Central Kitchen’s humanitarian relief efforts. SIMPLi will match the proceeds that are raised for this campaign.
“We're incredibly excited to be partnering with a brand who is so mission-aligned with SIMPLi. From educating consumers of the importance of eating sustainably sourced foods to reverse the effects of climate change to being fully transparent about the origin of our ingredients, PLNT Burger and SIMPLi share the same ethos of creating a better world and connecting people through food,” stated Sarela Herrada, Co-Founder,SIMPLi.
