Farro Breakfast Bowl

Warm farro, almond milk, cinnamon, and a jammy maple-chia fruit compote come together in the coziest breakfast bowl. It’s hearty, naturally sweet, and feels way more impressive than the effort it takes.

Farro Breakfast Bowl

iNGREDIENTS

Farro Base

SIMPLi Regenerative Organic Certified Farro
Unsweetened almond milk (or oat/coconut)
Maple syrup (or agave)
Cinnamon
Vanilla extract
SIMPLi Peruvian Pink Salt
1 cup
2 1/4 cups
2-3 tbsp
1/2 tsp
1/4 tsp
pinch

Mixed Berry Chia Compote

Mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
SIMPLi Regenerative Organic Certified Chia Seeds
Maple syrup
Vanilla extract
Cinnamon
1-1 1/2 cups
2 tbsp
1-2 tbsp
1/2 tsp
1/2 tsp

iNSTRUCTIONS

1) Cook the Farro

  1. Rinse the farro under cold water.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine farro and milk. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  3. Cook covered until farro is tender and chewy, about 15–20 minutes (longer if whole grain). Drain any excess liquid.
  4. Stir in maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Keep warm. 

2) Make the Berry Chia Compote

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the berries and maple syrup. Stir gently until berries begin to soften and break down (about 5–7 minutes).
  2. Stir in cinnamon, vanilla, and chia seeds. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of water and continue to cook 1–2 more minutes, chia will continue to thicken as it cools.

3) Assemble the Bowls

  1. Spoon warm farro into bowls.
  2. Top with generous dollops of mixed berry chia compote.
  3. Add optional fresh berries, toasted nuts/coconut, and swirl in yogurt if you like.
  4. Drizzle any extra maple syrup and sprinkle extra chia for texture.
