Cook the Lentils: In a medium saucepan, combine rinsed red lentils, garlic cloves, and water (or stock). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 12–15 minutes, until lentils are tender but not mushy. Drain well and let cool slightly.
Make the Hummus: In a food processor, blend the cooked lentils and garlic with tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Process until smooth and creamy, adding a splash of water if needed to reach your desired consistency. Taste and adjust seasoning.
Serve: Spoon hummus into a shallow bowl and use the back of a spoon to create swoops.
