Julia Sherman’s Crazy Rice

As the back-to-school season kicks off, it’s the perfect time to bring some excitement and creativity back into the kitchen with quick, nutritious meals that the whole family will love - which is why we teamed up with SIMPLi brand ambassador Julia Sherman to bring you a tasty twist to a classic comfort food – Crazy Rice!  

Julia Sherman’s Crazy Rice

iNGREDIENTS

Dry Mix

SIMPLi Regenerative Organic Certified® Tri-Color Quinoa
SIMPLi Regenerative Organic Certified® Amaranth
Sweet rice
Millet
Black lentils
3 tbsp
2 tsp
3/4 cups
1 tsp
2 tsp

For Cooking

SIMPLi Peruvian Spice Salt Blend
Water
1/2 tsp
3/4 cups + 2 tbsp

iNSTRUCTIONS

  1. To make the rice mix, combine the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl and toss to mix. Rinse the mixture under cold water for three minutes, agitating the grains to remove excess starch.  
  2. When ready to cook, add the rice mix to your rice cooker along with 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons of water and the salt. Set to cook on the sweet rice setting
  3. When the rice is finished cooking, fluff with a fork or a rice paddle and close the lid. Let the rice steam for ten minutes before serving. 

A quick tip from Julia

“This recipe makes 1 cup of dry grain mix. I multiply the dry ingredients by five and store them pre-mixed in my pantry, measuring out one cup at a time for cooking”
